Hi,


Trying to install Trace Compass 4.1 on Eclipse 3.10, i have this issue:


Missing requirement: LTTng Tracer Control 4.1.0.201810170845 (org.eclipse.tracecompass.lttng2.control.feature.group 4.1.0.201810170845) requires 'org.eclipse.equinox.p2.iu; org.eclipse.remote.core 2.0.0' but it could not be found


Did those dependencies have been moved?

Sorry of course i meant Eclipse 4.10


We did use 'org.eclipse.equinox.p2.iu' in the p2.inf file of the features as described at https://wiki.eclipse.org/Equinox/p2/Customizing_Metadata#Update_descriptor_advice:. I seems to be broken somehow. Did someone know how to overcome this issue?

Hi Jean-Christian,

Eclipse 4.10 has the 2018-12 simrel repository in the “install new software” by default but since M1 is not published yet, it is empty. Instead, try adding http://download.eclipse.org/staging/2018-12 <http://download.eclipse.org/staging/2018-12> (in addition to the Trace Compass M1 update site) then the Trace Compass features should install correctly along with their dependencies. This staging repo is the one being built regularly towards M1.

BTW, I believe the equinox.p2.iu you mentioned in the error is there just for the type of “artifact”.
BTW2, those p2.inf have been there forever in Trace Compass. You could consider removing them unless you want to support upgrading from

It's slightly off topic though related, but I wonder if each new
http://download.eclipse.org/releases/YYYY-MM composite could be
pre-populated with the previous release *immediately at the start of
each new cycle *so that we can use it immediately rather than having to
wait until M1 arrives?

Hi,

Thanks Marc-Andre for your answers. While trouble-shooting we also realized that we still support upgrade from a 4 year old version of Trace Compass. We will remove this because it’s not needed anymore.
